One-Sentence Stories

Sometimes all it takes is one line to tell a story.


Defiance:
  She clenched her shaking hands into fists and stood up.



Alzheimer's:
   He'd lost count of the number of times he'd told her, "I'm your son."



Warmth:
   A tiny hand wrapped around her finger.



Disillusionment:
   The tooth was still under his pillow the next morning.



Stranger:
   She couldn't recognise the person she'd become.



Innocence:
   "Mummy, when's daddy coming home?"



History:
   Her ghost wouldn't leave him alone.



Keep in touch:
   "Sorry, this number no longer exists."



Healing:
   She picked herself up and moved forward.



Roles:
   He wanted the doll but he got a toy car instead.



Demons:
   We're all at war.



Trespasser:
   She used up all her soap but she couldn't wash him off.



Silent triumph:
   No one saw him hit the bullseye, but he didn't mind that.
